Authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training just 20 minutes from Somis. Programs for adults, teens, and kids at Espiritu Jiu-Jitsu in Oxnard.
Somis → Oxnard
Somis sits between rolling avocado groves and citrus orchards on the plateau above Camarillo, a quiet agricultural community where hard work and self-reliance are part of daily life. That same ethic is exactly what drives growth on the mat. At Espiritu Jiu-Jitsu in Oxnard, we see it in our students from ranching families who arrive ready to work and leave with something lasting — discipline, technique, and a team that pushes them.
The 20-minute drive down CA-34 through Camarillo and onto the 101 is straightforward, and worth every mile. Whether you're coming in from the groves after an early start or bringing your kids after school lets out in Moorpark, our schedule is built to work around rural rhythms. Families from Somis often train together — parents in the adults class while kids are on the adjacent mat. It's a genuine community, rooted in the same work ethic that defines life in the Somis countryside.

Learn More →Why Espiritu
Espiritu Jiu-Jitsu isn't a franchise or a mixed martial arts gym. It's a focused Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy built on a direct lineage from Renzo Gracie through Shawn Williams to Professor Jeremy Espiritu. That lineage matters — it means structured curriculum, proven technique, and instructors who compete at the highest levels.
For families from Somis, the rural work ethic you bring to the ranch translates directly onto the mat. BJJ rewards patience, consistent effort, and showing up — values that agricultural life builds naturally. Our morning and evening schedule means you're not locked into one window; train before the day starts or after it ends.
