Foundation
The Fundamentals Class is our entry-level program for adults. It follows a structured curriculum focused on basic techniques and drills with emphasis on proper form and progression.
Each session follows: warm-ups, stand-up technique instruction, groundwork instruction, partner drills, then positional training or sparring. This progression allows you to apply what you've learned before live training.

No experience is necessary. Our Fundamentals Class is specifically designed for beginners. You'll learn at your own pace with experienced coaches guiding you through every technique.
Wear comfortable athletic clothing for your first class. We provide loaner gis (the traditional uniform) for trial classes at no charge. No jewelry, and fingernails/toenails should be trimmed.
Gi training uses the traditional kimono and emphasizes grip fighting, sweeps, and collar chokes. No-Gi training uses athletic wear and focuses on wrestling-based takedowns, body locks, and submission grappling. We offer both at Espiritu Jiu-Jitsu.
We recommend 2-3 classes per week to build a solid foundation. Consistency matters more than intensity. Many students see significant progress within their first few months of regular training.
